DES MOINES, Iowa — Republican U.S. Senate candidate Jim Carlin announced Wednesday that he has received an endorsement from retired LTG Michael Flynn ahead of Iowa’s June 2 primary.
Flynn, a retired U.S. Army lieutenant general and former national security adviser to President Donald Trump, praised Carlin in an endorsement letter released by the campaign Wednesday.
Jim Carlin is that kind of leader,” Flynn wrote. “That is why I am proud to endorse him for the United States Senate.
In the letter, Flynn described Carlin as an Army veteran, attorney and conservative lawmaker, praising his positions on election integrity, abortion and constitutional freedoms. Flynn also said Carlin would support an “America First” agenda in the Senate.
Carlin, a state senator and former candidate for U.S. Senate, said he was “honored and humbled” to receive Flynn’s endorsement.
“As a fellow Army veteran, I remain committed to defending our Constitution, securing our elections, protecting the unborn, supporting our veterans, and fighting every day for an America First agenda in the United States Senate,” Carlin said in a statement.
Carlin is running in the Republican primary for Iowa’s open U.S. Senate seat. Current 2nd District Rep. Ashley Hinson is also seeking the GOP nomination. The primary election is June 2.
